October 2018 Newsletter

Dear Genesis Prayer Team,

It’s been a while since we sent out a prayer update!  We have much to report.  Genesis South Africa is now a registered 501c3 non-profit corporation based in St. Louis, Missouri.  We have a godly group of pastoral, legal, financial, academic and administrative team members. Mrs. Sarah Stair, CPA, has agreed to assist with accounting.  Sarah and her husband Brian have two small children and live in St. Louis.

Dr. Steve Spencer, and his wife Marion, will be leading the Genesis project, and will move their family to Johannesburg, South Africa in January 2019.  As Genesis South Africa Director, and 30 years of higher education experience in Africa, Steve will oversee capital campaigns, assist in obtaining accreditation, writing curriculum, and building partnerships with local South African and international donors.

How can you pray?

  • This week Genesis will be launching our capital campaign.  The start-up budget for the next 36 months, which includes legal, relocation, office and accreditation costs, is $640,000. Pray for these funds to be raised quickly.

  • Please pray for the Spencer’s transition from Malawi to South Africa.  We are currently looking for housing, purchasing a vehicle and applying for visas.

  • Please pray for the accreditation of our first three degrees – Business Administration, Biblical Studies, and Public Administration.

  • Please pray God would raise up South African Christians to assist with government approval, institutional requirements, identification and purchase of property, and financial partners.

We are grateful for your prayers.  If you would like more information about Genesis South Africa, please contact Dr. Steve Spencer at 314-309-0265, or steve.spencer@genesissouthafrica.org
